The Haitian State Is Terrorized, Says Patrick Laurent

"The Haitian state is terrorized, and the public forces show no ability to resolve this," declared Patrick Laurent during an interview on Magik 9 on May 12, 2025. The lawyer was speaking about acts of terrorism in the country, a few days after U.S. authorities listed two of the most powerful criminal groups (Viv ansanm and Baz Gran grif) as terrorist organizations on May 2.

According to Laurent, the acts committed today in Haiti clearly fall under terrorism as defined by Haitian law. "Terrorism, in truth, is defined by the acts committed. It is the systematic use of violence to impose an opinion, whether political, religious, or otherwise. Imposing one's opinion through terror is an act of terrorism," he explained.
